Gizmodo has an article on the new Cadillac One that will be Obama’s buggy for getting around. This thing is ridiculous, it’s like a tank. The windows deflect armor-piercing bullets, and it can even sustain a rocket blast! There are pump shotguns handy, night vision cameras, and it’s own oxygen tanks in case of a biological threat. There are also a few bottles of the Presidents blood type on board just in case.
I am glad that our government is going to such lengths to protect our president. It definitely shows a sort of proficiency that we’re not used to seeing.

So, that instills some confidence. But I will add that I am SO glad I’m not in Obama’s shoes! It would be difficult to know that so many people seek my life I need to ride in a rocket-proof, armor-piercing bullet-proof vehicle. Most of us would be freaking out all the time. I’d lock my family in a basement deep underground.

There are several movies I’m interested in purchasing, but I’m still undecided on the whole Blu-Ray deal. Being a gadget freak, I actually got an HD-DVD player for Christmas 2 years ago (Thanks mom), but it has now unfortunately become obsolete. I was rooting for them too, because they were MUCH cheaper than Blu-Ray. In the past few months, I’ve said if a decent player comes available for under $200 I’d pick it up… well, I found one on sale today that fits the bill. But I still don’t know. Is the future of HD movies in a disc or in a format? I gave up buying CD’s several years ago. In fact, I remember buying a Hillsong United CD 3 years ago because it came with the DVD and I thought that was unique. It’s probably been 5 or 6 years since I was buying music in a CD format.
Anyhow, what do you think? Is Blu-Ray here to stay, or will it pass quickly with downloaded HD content from iTunes and other online retailers?

Taking a few links from Perry, here are a few things I’m into and reading today:
Scott Hodge’s post on Who You are Leading. We decided late last year that we would no longer focus on the complaints of the churched, but get on the task of reaching the unchurched. Scott does a great job of breaking it down.
I’m also checking
Steve Jobs’ keynote at WWDC.… the new iPhone 3g is here! And it’s only $199 (as expected). If that price is w/out a 2-year contract – you can count me in right now! Then I’ll just have to sell my Curve on eBay….

Had to post a random family update. Shay turned a month old yesterday.
This time has FLOWN by! It’s been so great to have Mel around the house too. I’ve enjoyed taking life a little easier too, and spending time with family.
Shay had a well visit today and has grown about an inch already! He’s in the 25th percentile now. He’s such a good kid, and Mel is a GREAT mom!
So I ended up selling my Powerbook on eBay. I just thought I’d see what I could get for it. I got $200 over the reserve I had set! So, I now I had to get Mel a new computer.

So Mel just got a new Macbook! I ordered her a black one (refurb) but she said she preferred a white one. We went to the Apple store (after canceling the online order) and picked her up a Macbook with the Superdrive. It’s a sweet machine, and I’ve got to say I’m a little jealous. I really like that size better. We also picked her up a sweet chick-like computer bag to go with it. Sold 2 macs, bought 2 more… Fun times!

I came across a review on my new computer today that was interesting. If anyone is considering the switch, read it here.
Ironically, this guy had similar purchasing habits… and we both passed our 12″ Powerbooks off to our wives. (Only now I’m selling it on eBay!) There are several features that seemed new to him, that I actually had on my Powerbook; like 2-finger scrolling and monitor detection. But ultimately, I agree, the MBP is an amazing machine – and I’m loving it.
Yes, I am a mac evangelist.

Today I pulled the trigger and got a Macbook Pro! It’s a 15″, so it’s a little bigger than I’d like – but I love it! In fact, I’m posting on it right now! God really opened up some doors to allow us to afford this purchase. It will be a little tight, but it was time for a new laptop.
I turned the Powerbook on yesterday (which is now Mel’s computer) and the power cord was broken. So, now I’m unable to move anything over until my new one comes in the mail. Leopard is great so far! Anyone in the Cumming area own a Powerbook or iBook that will let me come charge my old laptop at their place?

Reality has set in. Not only can I not afford the Macbook Air, it just simply isn’t practical right now. For 100 bucks more I could get a Macbook Pro, and while I love the portability factor – the MBP would be a much wiser investment.
However, both are far from my price range. At best I will end up with a Macbook. Hopefully in the near future they’ll update them with the mult-touch mousepad, and I’ll snag one up.

It is finally here! A new ultra-portable Mac laptop. My Powerbook is 3 years old and is definitely needing an upgrade.
I don’t know how I’m going to do it yet… but I have got to get one of these! Maybe I’ll set up a donation account via paypal like Bob.blog.

It’s petty, I know, to post about the Blu-ray/HD-DVD war — but it seems it is about over. There is only one studio left with HD-DVD.
I’m bummed because I have an HD-DVD player (for my Xbox 360) and now it is looking to be obselete before long. It was a Christmas gift a year ago, and I will always enjoy the 5 movies I have in HD. :)
One of these days I’ll have to get a Blu-ray player anyway… the HD digital camera we got this year for Christmas needs to be played on one. I’m sure it will be a while for this one.

It’s no secret I’m a gadget freak. In fact, the only thing I’ve asked for Christmas from Mel this year is one of those tiny little RC helicopters that are everywhere. I’m sure the novelty wears off in 15 minutes, but it still would be cool.
Tonight on ebay, I won my newest toy.
A Holux 1200 Bluetooth GPS. This thing is roughly the size of a USB drive and gives me a GPS that I can sync with my laptop AND my new Blackberry Curve through Bluetooth. What’s really cool is that Google Maps allows you to connect a bluetooth GPS and it will handle the directions. So, now I’ll have an ultra-portable GPS device to carry in my go-bag for when
Claire is in
Mel’s car (or left at home).
I’m eager to get this one in the mail and test it out! I sold a few things on ebay, so I was able to pick this up. (and I got it at a great deal!)
